The Art of Listening
Super Power Solution
Today, Julie Ann Sullivan discusses The Art of Listening and how you can use this as your Super Power Solution.
Good listening skills are beneficial for relationships. People speaking have a greater sense of value when someone is really listening to what they have to say.
When you’re a good listener, you have a better understanding of what someone wants. Improved listening creates better relationships and this world becomes a happier and easier place to live.
Tips for Better Listening
Make sure you give your full attention to someone that is speaking to you. Be aware of what thought processes are going on in your head. It’s important to clear your head so you can completely focus on the words. The last thing you want to do is be thinking about the speaker’s clothing or if they took your last Pepsi from the fridge. Listen without judging.
No one said this was going to be easy. The Art of Listening takes practice.
Julie Ann’s tips for getting started:
- For one day try offering advice only when it’s asked for
- Avoid offering a “bad news” story just to be heard.
